jaenes BONG, jonathan ALOTTO, sam CHO: The proposal of Pushkinsky Theatre (The Veins) has imagined Moscow as a complete organ body, and Pushinsky Theatre as the beating heart symbolizing the spirit and the passion of the city of Moscow. The Pushinsky Theatre (The Veins) investigates the metaphoric quality of a heart membrane sculpture with its veins tectonic system embellishing the red glowing flesh of heart as ornament.
The importance of Pushkinsky Theatre in Moscow has a symbolic and narrative quality in film industry in Russia. Its strategic location intersecting with Pushkin Square has imprinted its role as Moscow’s landmark. The new façade design offered an essential identity about performing, representing and show-time to welcome the audiences like the oxygen flows into main and side arteries. A glowing red blending with warm green towards the Pushkin Square distributes a sense of red-carpet royal yet warmth to the city. The expression of the veins ornaments the envelope of Pushkinsky Cinema as well as introducing a new tectonic structure system.

Nice looking project… still doesn’t change the fact that it is a bad riff of Kokkugia’s Taipei Performing Arts Center. Google it.

You’ve obviously just started architecture school. Don’t worry, the more you learn about architecture, the more you’ll realize that everything is just a riff off of something else.

Kokkugia’s Taipei Performing Arts Center is a nice looking project… still doesn’t change the fact that it is a bad riff of Tom Wiscombe’s Shenzhen Museum Of Contemporary Art. Google it.
