Shifa VIRANI: This project tests an alternative version to variation and repetition in suburbia. . . .
While in the generic American suburb, a vernacular is established by having many variables, each with a very small spectrum of allowable difference. In this case, only one element, the porch, is made the primary feature and therefore variable to the project.
sP: What or who influenced this project?
SV: Typography and suburbia.
sP: What were you reading/listening to/watching while developing this project?
SV: Reading: Archive of Affinities and Haruki Murakami. Watching the work of David Lynch.
sP: Whose work is currently on your radar?
SV: Speedism, MAS Studio, Bureau Spectacular, Sam Jacob, and Johnston Marklee.
