critic: Volkan ALKANOGLU.
suckerPUNCH: Describe your project.
Son VU: This untitled project is for a gallery in Atlanta, Georgia. It started with a process of creating abstract 2-D line drawings; these drawings were then interpreted into 3-D space.
Surfaces are visualized as extruding from a single point, warping and wrapping around themselves to form these multi-height spaces. The ground floor is a sheltered, open-air multipurpose area and public art exhibition, while above there are three levels of gallery space.
sP: What or who influenced this project?
SV: The blend tool in Illustrator and Volkan Alkanoglu.
sP: What were you reading/listening to/watching while developing this project?
SV: Watching The Walking Dead and Interstellar; listening to Nujabes.
sP: Whose work is currently on your radar?
SV: SCI-Arc, Shigeru Ban, Tadao Ando, and NOX / Lars Spuybroek.
