suckerPUNCH: Describe your project.
Erich SCHACHTSCHNEIDER and Jereth SENESE: This project is about recognizable form and materials establishing boundaries of the familiar, while also being forced to take on and negotiate strange transformations.

Two materials combine to compose a monolithic mass. Though at first static and rigid in nature, metallic gold and rough concrete begin to warp and embed together as a nebulous concoction. A coherent, recognizable silhouette is maintained although the materials articulate and nest together in ways unknown at first glance. Implications of what may be happening on the interior appear, but it is not immediately clear.
Interior space is conceived as a third material - this time as a solid that is carved away and removed from the mass. Gaps and figural cuts are created as mass is carved out, bridging and uniting pieces of material. Apertures and holes appear as interior overcomes and tears through exterior bounds.
Through these methods, interior space and exterior form develop a contrasting relationship with one another. Like in the baroque plan, interior is dislodged from exterior through a thickened poche. Ultimately, the inside and the outside act as their own characters, at times in dialogue, yet deviating from each other.
