Mohammad SOLEIMANIFEIJANI: Frayed and Refined opens up the chance for defamiliarization of the identifiable object in a new extension for the Louvre museum and Tuileries garden.

By extending the left and right wings of the Louvre museum with primitives and disintegrated them by squeezing, tearing, ripping and wrinkling, the project produces less recognizable figures. The additions blur and distort the monumentality of the Louvre. Later by redefining the edges of the additions we achieve a painterly effect that represents a new form of coherency.
The thesis critiques what we have historically known as the naturalized ideal of nature in dead moments of architecture.
