suckerPUNCH: describe your project.

silke SIELER / Silja: It´s a short abstract movie dealing with nature and maritime creatures, metamorphosis and transformation – it connects art and science. With a strong emphasis on sound it is related to the idea of visual music. The Style is soft but clean, focussing on black & white.

I studied media design at University of Applied Sciences in Mainz and this is my diploma thesis – it´s a fan video for »Warm Signal« by Apparat taken from the Album Duplex.

sP: what or who influenced this project?

sS: It´s strongly influenced by nature and organic design and especially by Ernst Haeckel’s “Artforms of Nature”, a german biologist, who combined science and art and illustrated animals and sea creatures.

sP: what were you reading/listening to/watching while developing this project?

sS: Reading a lot about architecture, listening to Apparat an watching twin peaks everytime i needed a break

sP: whose work is currently on your radar?

sS: Siggi Eggertsson and Olaf Hajek
