suckerPUNCH: Describe your project.
g. eddie GUIDRY: The scrapes series is an exploration of shape and form that could be viewed as architectural but are mostly otherworldly. I try to only start with a vague vision and let the drawing form itself and me. I draw using 2mm leads and color pencil.
sP: What or who influenced this project?
gG: New Orleans, those that surround me on a daily basis, and all the amazing artists doing what they do best.
sP: What were you reading/listening to/watching while developing this project?
gG: Reading: The Lunatic at Large by J. Storer Clouston; Listening: Alex Ebert’s song “truth” and probably too much Chad VanGaalen.
sP: Whose work is currently on your radar?
gG: Heroes—too many to name, but a few: Paul Noble, Lebbeus Woods. Luke Pearson’s drawings are amazing. I’m also following so much amazing raw talent on the many internet portals.
