    suckerPUNCH: Describe your project.

Lord CENIZA & Juan C. BAEZ: Our objective was to develop a design proposal for a housing complex in downtown Los Angeles that deviates from the constricting demands of the typology of housing with a goal towards the eccentric. Breaking from the standard but respecting functionality we searched for a middle ground. The challenge was to not let repetition becoming monotonous rather to inspire thought and lead to new discoveries.

    suckerPUNCH: Describe your project.

christos KOUKIS: Created entirely from the cell and the organ, these proto-typological and proto-spatial units can combine, mutate and multiply themselves in order to produce many different spatial qualities and form a housing unit. The different experimental stages—breeding—contribute to the discovering of a connection mechanism that is the base for future mutation.

    suckerPUNCH: Describe your project.

jonas ERSSON: The project represents the culmination of a series of individual workshops conducted within the framework of the bachelor-course “Architecture Space and Technology” in the spring of 2011 at the Lund University School of Architecture.

The idea of an interchangeable architecture has been a driving force behind many of the experimental movements during the 20th century. In my scheme I revisited some of the ideas of the metabolist and structuralist movements but tried to reevaluate the basic premise. Unlike the metabolist idea of wear and tear, I envisioned a system that instead of constantly being replaced would allow a systematic reconfiguration to suit changing needs.

    suckerPUNCH: Describe your project.

kyle STOVER: This studio examined the relationship of types versus species. Where type is viewed as “categories of standardization, then species are malleable entities in constant metamorphosis.” The brief called for a house to inspeciate a site in three acts by employing a cellular spatial logic. My project technologically romanticizes the idea of the house to present a radically picturesque possibility of inhabitation.

    suckerPUNCH: describe your project.

maria KNUTSSON-HALL: the project is a transportation system evolving from a local scale. a system developed from an organ to a moving mechanical structure. i’m interested in different forms of movement within organs and the human body. and how these movements can be transformed into at mechanical structure.
i operated in the conditions of developing a body from an organ where the organs create a working system. i wanted to explore how a mechanical structure could parasite and integrate with a static housing structure. in this case the transportationsystem crawls into a static bonestructure and gives it life through movement.
