    suckerPUNCH: Describe your project.

Sofia XANTHAKOU, Greg LeMAIRE, & Dimitris MOUSTROUFIS: The project is an overall premise concerning an intervention into the conventional city fabric and the repeal of commonly acknowledged truths about urbanism. Arguably ideas about flow, ownership and occupation are the most closely guarded and regulated within a community and therefore are the most in need of confrontation. By imposing adverse conditions and forms on rigid expectations we hope to create a dialogue about an alternative to accepted norms.

    suckerPUNCH: Describe your project.

masha PEKUROVSKY: “EcoNET: Project_4 Incorporated” is a design thesis and research project produced during my time as M.Sc.Arch student at Pratt-GAUD. This thesis explores the changes that architecture might undergo in order to be both transformed and built-out into an antidote to the egregiously damaging environmental practices of large utility companies and the insidious pockets of civic planning that allow them.

yoko SAIGO: After the nuclear power plant in Fukushima had hydrogen explosion, the land, the water and air include great amount of cesium. There is black fungus funded in Chernobyl which absorb cesium instead of carbon. The architecture device provides the certain condition to cultivate the relationship between fungus and cesium in the site of the nuclear power plant in Fukushima. This project proposes a cultivation device that produces an environmental condition by understanding the potential for localized ecosystems.

hannibal NEWSOM: Shallow Depths is the conceptual development and exploration of possible environments. They exist beyond scale, they express depth without perspective, milieu without subject, and articulation without definition. These intricate displays are mere moments in time drawn from raging vortices of nascent worlds emerging from their primordial sludge. Life seems to lurk just beneath the aether.

achilleas KAKKAVAS: “A Glimpse of Flow” is an investigation of materiality. Through a series of experimentations on arranging and mixing, material is forced to reveal its characteristics and produce patterns of flow, blending and transformation. Through different photographic technics the creation of ambiguity is achieved. The images are familiar to the eye but enhanced with a blur understanding of the material, process, scale, limit and time.
