classic black and white portraits intersect with vivid colors and bold geometries in the photographs of jens HERRNDORFF. his subjects have oscillated from bands to fashion but the edge remains. through layers of neon and fuzz his images jump effortlessly from their constant backgrounds of white.

evan GREENBERG + christina DOUMPIOTI - biodynamic structures
02.11.10 11am - 2pm
through simple relationships, biological organisms achieve complex ‘emergent’ structures and performances from simple components. analysis of natural systems and their biomimetic applications suggests the possibility of a radical bottom-up programme for architectural design. this research investigates how the boundary between the ‘natural’ and the man-made has been reconfigured by biomimetic engineering, and explores how this can lead to the evolution of new materials that may play a significant role in shaping the future of our built environment. -
layers of paper build up in charles CLARY’S compositions to appear as mutant rose windows hiding behind gallery walls. the color gradient created by the changing shades within the stacks amplifies their depth and gives the clusters a pop as they replicate and spread across the room.

dave BANTZ: the strategy employed in this project reconsiders the process of massing, utilizing an indexical process which incorporates an economy of excess to achieve more dynamic and expressive materialities.the process begins through the selection and adjustment of an initial “exacted chunk” of an original conceptual poche study.

slavche TANEVSKI: the lamborghini ladura was done as part of the Lamborghini Raw Materials Project led by prof. dr. othmar wickenheiser, where all students at the school could take part in. the feruccio lamborghini’s appreciation to spanish culture and bull fighting/running led to naming all amborghini cars after some famous bulls or some places or families connected to bulls. respecting this fradition, the car is named after the island in indonesia, which is famous for bull races. the madura is a proposal for the first hybrid Lamborghini scheduled for 2016. doing a car more efficient and more nature-friendly, doesn’t mean it shouldn’t be exciting, good-looking and fast. but in my opinion this new propulsion system should be represented on the looks of the car.

brian OSBORN: openhouse prototype 2 is an illuminated canopy that fills the upper portion of a private courtyard in the french quarter. the canopy reconfigures itself as it receives input from the seating in the space.
francis BITONTI: intensities in the ceiling vary and shift with occupancy. people become actuators as they begin to take advantage of the seating; gathering in small groups or sitting in isolation. the behavior of the canopy is driven by social structures and human activity.
