  • Angewandte NEU
    vienna AUSTRIA

Between 1st and 3rd district in Vienna on the Ringstrasse a few buildings of different authors and times are collected on a block. Some of them serve the purposes of the Museum for Applied Arts and some of them serve the University of Applied Arts. The original urban intent for this group of buildings follows a very fine, subtle and precise idea. Although being part of a block, or standing on a block, they were always meant to keep their independency and autonomy by simultaneously allowing for a visibility of the space in between them.

    WORKSHOP AGENDA: Post-9/11, Post-Tsunamis, Post-Earthquakes, Post-Olympics, Post-Hadid; Post- McQueen.

Alexander McQueen (1969–2010) was one of the most influential and provocative designers of his generation. His clothing challenged the generic and conventional parameters of fashion to express culture, politics, identity. McQueen saw beyond clothing design physical constraints its ideological and conceptual possibilities, addressing questions related to race, gender, religion, sexuality and environment. During AA School Paris Spring 2012, McQueen’s evolutionary design will act as prompts for embryos’ naissance within the [Fashion+Architecture] body of work.

  • Inundating Infestation

    Lund School of Architecture
    critic: Abelardo Gonzalez

    suckerPUNCH: Describe your project.

sofia KANERUD: Inundating Infestation is a proposal for a housing, office and retail tower in the center of Malmö. The main idea of the project is to use one single body multiple times in various ways. The bodies are added on to as well as subtracted from a primitive building. Clusters of bodies naturally merge into larger systems. Each system is necessary to generate a specific spatial quality, such as skin organization, light filtration and programmatic distribution. The accumulation of bodies reconfigures the building mass and allows for new possibilities of architectural qualities.

    new york NEW YORK

    suckerPUNCH: Describe your project.

Oh_mami_mentum = helen n. LEVIN + jen WOOD: The Lonely Lover is constantly opposed, craving and craved for by the Permanent Bachelor. The physical space of the craving is the Love Room: a bubble at the end of a pheromone trail. This trail is forged through the interplay between those who sit and wait for love without direction and those who constantly seek love whilst lacking that same direction.
