JAGUAR: When designing a car capable of speeds in excess of 200 mph, aerodynamics is crucial. Your average supercar muscles its way through the air, covered in wings and spoilers to help with grip. A much more elegant approach was taken with the C-X75. Aerodynamics informed every aspect of the exterior design.

Using an underbody Venturi and directional exhaust gas control, the car was kept as compact as possible. In fact, the movement of air itself was one of the principle drivers behind many of the design cues incorporated into the bodywork.

DeZir is the first project to be led by Laurens van den Acker and marks the implementation of the strategy based on the notion of ‘life cycle’. The first step involves falling in love, an experience that is perfectly illustrated by DeZir’s powerful, sensuous styling and bright red finish; red being the colour associated with passion.

suckerPUNCH: describe your project.

Artificial light, relief, and graphic coloration can dematerialize mass and create an ambiguous behavior by tapping into effects which transcend dimensions from 2D to 3D. The production of two specific effects on mass are at stake: 1) flattening and 2) over accentuating. The purpose of creating an ambiguous behavior is to move away from hierarchy and open the architectural reading to multiple interpretations.
