istanbul TURKEY & london UNITED KINGDOMsuckerPUNCH: Describe your project.
Seda ZIREK: This table is inspired by the dripstone caves, which consists of a limestone formation called stalactite. These structures hang from the ceilings of the caves. They are created by dripping mineral waters of the cave. This water leaves its minerals behind in a circular shape as it descends towards the floor of the cave. Therefore, these structures represent the vertical movement of the mineral water as a result of the gravity force. Inspired by the stalactite structures, the Dripping Table is made of legs, which are descending from the top of the table into the floor. The continuity and elegancy of this table is a result of the emergence process of this continuous and elegant movement as it is in the dripstone caves.

The sinuous shape of the Zephyr sofa has been inspired by natural rock formations shaped by erosion: the application of subtractive processes that carve solid matter. The resulting formal language gives the Zephyr sofa increased ergonomic properties without compromising the design’s fluidity or proportion; translating into a concept that allows for multiple seating layouts. The carved profile incorporates deep backrests and generous undercuts for unrivaled comfort. A lacquered finish applied to Zephyr’s structural elements highlights every subtle nuance of its composition, and is contrasted by the tactile qualities of its bespoke upholstery and cushioning.

Launched at Fuorisalone 2013, Officine della Torneria on April 11th, the design of the Serac Bench has evolved from the formal language of ice formations created within intersecting glacial crevasses.
Developed as an urban sculpture for seating and resting, the striated articulation of the Serac Bench emerges seamlessly from the landscape, each layer taking its own unique trajectory in reaction to latent forces that disperse—and ultimately coalesce—the many strata of the bench.

L’amant is a flexible modular wine storage and display system. Through it’s infinite combinatorics it creates unique and customizable sculptural aggregations. The organizational logic unifies the discrete modules into emergent wholes with distinct character. The result manifests varied differences, which become neatly packed clusters. Each aggregation allows for a differentiated field of positioning enabling an exclusive showcase for any individual wine collection.
