si SCOTT: An ongoing exploratory personnel project developing a series
of illustrative studies of flying insects.
The idea came from looking at Insects that fly. When looked at and studied
closely they look like they shouldn’t be able to fly at all - they look almost other worldly.
I am fascinated by flight but didn’t want to do anything as obvious as a study of birds
or butterflies etc…

inspired by music of which he is too shy to mention, si scott’s swirling typographies are standard fonts on acid. his definitive style is instantly recognizable with its ornate, dripping typefaces. his variations in line and formal densities allow his work to transcend the one hit wonder into a cohesive family of work. scott keeps the hand drawn font alive and well in this day of digital saturation. his recent work diverges from stylized typography into that of the equally recognizable biological forms of animals and the human body that are broken down into his trademark swirls and curlicues.
